It seems the extremely bad battery performance of the k850i is completely due to a bad bluetooth implementation. Without bluetooth, battery drain is a mere 10 percent in about a day.
I use bluetooth fairly frequently for syncing and internet access on my laptop, so it’s kind of a bummer but not all is lost. The improved shortcut system on the k850i allows me to link the D-pad ‘down’ directly to bluetooth on/off.
Go into the menu -> options -> shortcuts, select whichever you want and then go to menu ->options->connections->bluetooth->bluetooth on (or off) and click short cut.
Not optimal, but good to go.
Apparently there’s a new firmware version out for the phone, but the automatic download doesn’t work. Probably because it’s a locked Orange phone. Pretty sucky, but at least there’s hope of this being fixed ‘at some point in the future’.

took my k850i back to SE, they are replacing it with a new handset, great phone but battery couldnt last a day with me and i figured it was a fault with my phone/battery, this may possibly be the cause. mine was also loaded with optuszoo carrier software.

i had the same problem but since i unlocked and reflesh it now the battery lasts me 4 days and i use it quite a lot. i think the sony original software sloved the problem because now i can take the 3g off, problem solved.

There was a new firmware update recently. A few days ago I updated through SEUS and the battery management seems to have improved.
