Switching from PC to Mac…Recent Apple results show there must be hundreds of thousands of recent Mac Users / Switchers! I am one of those people. I still have a few windows PC’s but I’ve recently started using my MacBook Pro as my main system. I love it, but I had a lot of trouble getting into it at first. Biggest reason: I got kind of stuck on some of my favorite apps and I couldn’t find the same functionality on OS X right away.
So in this series I’ll highlight some of the OSX applications I’ve found that replace the old Windows ones, plus some new things I’ve found.
My first piece of advice is this: prepare to pay. It seems to me that to get cool OSX applications, more often than not you need to pay about 19-39 dollars. On the Windows side, they were often published as freeware or there were open source options. That’s not to say there are never free or open source options on the Mac…but I just find myself paying for a lot more software than I did on PC.
So there you are. A new series, just like that.
