Chatterblocker no blocker

October 24, 2007 · No Comments

I found this program called Chatterblocker on Apple downloads. It works from a great premise: use different sounds to drown out people talking in the background. When I downloaded it I thought it was a great idea, and in my quiet office and living room the sounds seems loud enough to drown out anything.

But now I’m in a restaurant. Until five minutes ago it was pretty quiet…but some pretty loud, busy people just walked in. So I had pretty much no alternative but to try out Chatterblocker. Two things about this program:
1. My Macbook Pro Speakers are just not powerful enough to drown out the people. I can still hear what they’re saying.
2. My Macbook Pro Speakers ARE however loud enough to make everyone look at me and my computer and think: what’s that weird noise coming from that guy’s computer?

So now I’ve really got to get out of here. Pity, I just paid for my wireless access.
